In all periods of history we find that astronomers have devoted their days and
evenings, the study of celestial bodies. This show reminds us of many of them
from Aglaonike that predicted eclipses of the moon in ancient Greece Caroline
Herschel who discovered and studied the stars, binary stars in the eighteenth
century. And many researchers who are currently spearhead in the forefront of
science.
Through a series of panels is a route between the major goals of astrophysics
and fundamental role played by women since ancient times to today. The
discovery of pulsars, the large scale structure of the universe, or the
measurement of stellar distances wandering before our eyes told an informative
and entertaining way.
In preparing the sample new astronomers have participated in different research
centers, including Josefina Ling, University of Santiago de Compostela and
curator of the exhibition, alongside the astronomer Eulalia Perez Boschetti.
This exhibition aims to "show astronomy from a new perspective, taking
into account the views and contributions of some women who have been
illustrious astronomers. Both Ling and Boschetti have been two of the
scientists responsible for selecting the contents of the 13 panels that form, 9
devoted to astronomical concepts, both in historical context and show the
relationship between astronomy and culture, a compilation of the names of 116
astronomers Spanish, and a final presentation.
