The Telescopes Park:
The Telescopes Park is the outdoor section of the Centre d’Observació de l’Univers devoted to observing the sky both day and night. It consists of two buildings with astronomical domes and an area for setting up the COU's portable telescopes.
The equipment of the Telescopes Park consists of:
- A Schmidt-Cassegrain catadioptric telescope with a diameter of 40 centimetres in the Great Dome. This completely automated telescope is complemented by the equipment necessary to obtain high quality astronomical images.
- A refractor telescope with a diameter of 15 centimetres and extremely high optical quality in the Small Dome. This exceptional telescope is complemented by the equipment necessary to obtain high quality astronomical images and the most advanced equipment for telescopic solar observation.
- A coelostat. This apparatus consists of a system for tracking the sun and obtaining real-time images. These images are projected automatically in the lower floor of the Great Dome where people can observe an image of a solar disc one metre in diameter.
- A set of portable telescopes and their accessories, comprising over 20 pieces of equipment with various optical specifications: refractors, Newton reflectors and catadioptrics. These give nocturnal visitors to the COU the best possible view of the night sky.
